The work I create, which is in abstract form, is often derived from either a still life, floral or landscape theme. Colours, textures and form inspire me to create highly personal, unique works of art, often based on situations and experiences from daily observations.

Inspiration is generally drawn from the earthy textural tones of the peak district, and the bright light of St Ives, Cornwall.

My work takes days often weeks to complete. Layers of paint, give history and meaning to the painting…. creating clarity, texture, tone and movement in its conclusion.

Although simple in appearance and pleasing on the eye, the art is complex and carefully crafted … a Pandora’s box of images, texture & colour open to thought, contemplation and above all to the enquiring mind, interpretation.

Study of Dorothy for the Wizard of Oz

Smart Art Galleries are delighted to have the brand new
unique work from Artist of the Year 2012, Kerry Darlington, an extraordinary
homage to the 1939 film, ‘Wizard of Oz’. Focused upon Dorothy and Toto, the
composition shows the iconic ruby slippers. Interestingly, Kerry has noted,
“Did you know Dorothy wore silver shoes in the book? They introduced red
slippers for the film.”
